Nasopharyngeal Cancer is the 7th commonest cancer amongst males in Singapore. There are ethnic variations in incidence with the Southern Chinese having the highest and the Indians, the lowest incidences. Radiotherapy has been the primary treatment modality. Outcomes have been steadily improving over the years as a result of better technology. First the advent of cross sectional imaging. Then better radiotherapy treatment planning:starting with 3D RT, then IMRT and now IGRT and potentially particle therapy in the near future. The addition of chemotherapy to radiotherapy is now standard of care for more advanced disease and newer regimens are currently being tested with the hope of furthering cure rates. We will review some of the outcomes of the various RT techniques and the current areas of controversy and research which is ongoing.
