In order to achieve better healthcare for Asian women with gynecological cancer, Asian Society of Gynecologic Oncology (ASGO) was established by tremendous efforts of the two father-like founders, Professor Shingo Fujii at Kyoto University and Professor Soon-Beom Kang at Seoul National University. Based on the agreement among Council Members from Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, India, Hong Kong, and China, The 1st Meeting was held in Tokyo in 2009, and then The 2nd Meeting 2011 was very much successful in Seoul. The 3rd Meeting will be held in December 13-15 at Westin Miyako Hotel in Kyoto.
Under the world globalization, we are very enthusiastic for the exchange of knowledge, experience, and opinions in medical science and practice among Asian countries. Now we are coming into "New Era of Oncology in Asia", and so, it is very important for us to meet together, and to be involved in face-to-face discussion about all aspects of oncology, such as better understanding of disease and further progress on the screening, diagnosis, treatment, prevention and palliative care in the 21st century. President of JSCO, Professor Masahiko Nishiyama, is also enthusiastic about the expansion of Federation of Asian Clinical Oncology (FACO), which has been established in 2012. We believe both of ASGO and FACO are essential for Asian collaboration in clinical oncology.
